These are the notes we take between tours — the things guests ask on the road, the answers that never quite fit into an itinerary, and the small details that make the difference between seeing Cape Town and understanding it. We are born and raised here, we drive these routes several times a week, and most of what follows started as a conversation in the car.

Expect practical writing rather than travel-brochure prose: when the penguins at Boulders are most active, why the order you drive the Peninsula matters more than the stops themselves, what the wind does to a Table Mountain plan, and which parts of the Winelands are worth the extra half hour. If you are planning a trip and want a straight answer, this is where we put ours.

Cape Town is a city with a strong opinion about timing. The same route that is spectacular in one season can be closed in by cloud in another, and the same beach that is full at midday is empty two hours later. A lot of what we write here is about that — reading the weather, choosing the direction of travel, and knowing which plans are worth holding loosely. None of it requires booking with us to be useful, and you are welcome to take it and go on your own.
